The orphanage was founded in 1979 because of a great need: Many people died during a 7-year drought, leaving children with no one to care for them. Within the first two years, the orphanage had twelve boys and twelve girls. To date, the orphanage has served hundreds of children and it averages 90 to 100 children. There is also a school and a church building at the site of the orphanage. Some of the orphans who came to the mission years ago have become active workers for the Lord and for the mission.
